ABOUT TIANJIN


Tianjin is one of the 4 Chinese Municipalities (others being: Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing) under the direct control of the Central Government. It covers an area of nearly 12.000 square - km with over 10 million people living here. It was founded in the year 1404, and in the year 1860 it became the first international trading port in North China. It is a well known industrial and cultural centre in China, the former President Chou En Lai studied here and - moreover - the current President of China, Wen Jiabao, is a citizan of this huge city. Next to Shanghai it is the second biggest and the key comprehensive industrial, trading and financial hub in China.

Both photos show parts of the huge harbour facilities at Tang Gu , the port city of Tianjin , some 70 km south-east to downtown . Tang Gu port is the biggest in North-China , serving about 25% of all Chinese people .


Tianjin offers a wide range of advantages:

The strategic location of Tianjin

Tianjin is located next to the Bohai sea, 120 km southeast to Beijing. It is the gateway to 2 municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin) and 8 provinces (Hebei, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Ningxia) and also to some parts of Henan and Shandong provinces. Some 350 million people - about 25 % of whole China¡äs population - or 4,5 million square - km - about 47 % of the whole Chinese national area - are dependent on the functionality of this economic powerhouse. It has a wide hinterland with many natural resources and its development speed per year exceeds 15 %. Tianjin and Beijing actually form one economic agglomeration with about 80 million people concentrated. With the Capital it is connected by 2 Motorways, 3 railway streams, and mid of 2008, additionally the new high speed train will connect both cities within 30 minutes. It is the hub for all transnational railway lines from North to South and its Bohai International Airport is the biggest freight airport in North China. The newly formed Airbus - Joint Venture will set up its A 320 assembly halls here. Around Tianjin high-speed ring motorways connect all major locations and soon, the down town sub ways will be finished building a cob web transportation system to ease the enormous traffic situation. Different to some other parts in China, Tianjin supplies all people and companies with enough hinterland space, natural gas, electricty and water.

 

The huge harbour of Tianjin

The Tianjin harbour is the largest comprehensive trading port in North China and even during the strongest winter icefree. It has busines relationship with more than 300 international harbours  from 170 countries world wide. Its harbour city is Tang Gu - a city within a city -  with more than 500.000 people operating on the 120 km coast line harbour facilities. It is the biggest among the 20 Bohai Gulf Ring harbours, covering 5800 km coastal line. Jiahe Logistics Ltd. is operating there by its own harbour city office. 

 

The excellent human resources in Tianjin

Tianjin has alwas been an industrial city and its economic and investment climate is excellent. It is still well known as a mechanic industry city with over 150 categories, like: electronic, automotive, metallurgy, machinery, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, textile and chemical. In the last decade the tertiary economic sector dominated the development, and high tech, IT, telecom, the logistics and the service industry increased rapidly. All this was possible due to the outputs of 37 Universities, 159 scientific research centres, 389 secondary and vocational training schools, all together offering over 230 majors to the 200.000 students. For investors it is easy to hire well educated young graduates, but also to build its backbone business development upon the experienced high qualified labour forces.

 

The valuable cost-benefit ratio of Tianjin

Although located close to Beijing, Tianjin is still a cheap place to live. This is another key factor for foreign investors to chose one of the 11 economic development areas (see cooperation partners) circled around this city for their investments. More than 6000 foreign companies have settled here, amongst them 80 % of the FORTUNE 500. The average monthly income is 1700 RMB, fully furnished apartments for foreigners can be rent in high class compounds for 200 to 300 USD per month. The average living standard is about 35 to 50 % cheaper than in Beijing. The people here are friendly, curious, open minded, loyal and hard working but they  also love to dine and wine the excellent food and beverages.  

 

The future development planning for Tianjin

Tianjin currently is the 2 nd ranked income tax and duties volume city in China. The Central Government recently has decided to enhance this city into the third biggest financial hub in China. The 3 rd stock exchange will be set up here soon, the banking and insurance sector will be restructured and will face tremendous changes to play a dominant future role within China. The whole city is currently undergoing a complete infrastructure make-up. Target number one is to achieve a profitable, sustainable and environmental friendly city within the next years. Renewable energy industries will be attracted from all over the world with attractive administrative and financial advantages.
